Department Definition

The Creative Production Office (CPO) will have responsibility for developing the strategy and building the team to execute and deliver on Expo City’s entertainment programming and development of its ceremonies and culturally authentic event production – this team will be led by the Executive Producer and Executive Creative Director.

Opportunity Responsibilities

The Technical Manager – Systems will work with the technical team, contractors and suppliers, to help implement and maintain the Expo City entertainment programming strategy and its associated entertainment venues (including the activation of Al Wasl Plaza, Surreal Waterfall, Jubilee, and Expo City’s public realm venues).

The Technical Manager – Systems will be involved with supporting technical aspects of ongoing pitches, consultancy and projects external to the Expo City site, and execute daily responsibilities.

The main responsibilities for this role include:

Collaborate with the Technical Director and contribute to the technical design and requirements of Expo city events across all venues, as well as external events.
Demonstrate excellent technical project management experience, overseeing and delivering multiple events simultaneously.
Have an excellent knowledge of live event audio, video and lighting systems and control as well as an understanding of staging and scenic.
Ensure the implementation of flexible and scalable technical requirements across all Expo City entertainment programming venues and spaces.
Lead all aspects of the technical systems, infrastructure, and services required to bring the vision of the Creative Production Office strategy to life.
Collaborate with incoming clients to provide production design support and oversee technical project management for their events.
Work with external production entities to develop technical plans and requirements for incoming tours, events, and shows.
Support the technical production team, freelancers, and contractors across various disciplines to ensure the successful delivery of technical aspects for the Creative Production Office strategy.
Manage procurement logistics efficiently to meet project requirements.
Extensive experience in project budgeting, financial analysis and planning, budget management, cost control, ROI, resource allocation, cost optimization, and expense tracking.
Drive revenue generation by identifying opportunities and implementing strategies.
Collaborate with external talent, such as production entities, freelancers, contractors, and incoming event agencies as needed.
Monitor and Ensure projects and contractors adhere to set budgets, provide required reporting, and obtain necessary approvals in a timely manner.
Work within the risk management framework, ensuring compliance with appropriate risk mitigation measures and contingency plans.
Lead readiness and testing efforts related to projects.
Co-manage with the full technical team the asset management system.
Prepare comprehensive functional and technical documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
Oversee operational delivery of events, including operational readiness exercises when required.
Lead the monitoring of external production companies across Entertainment & Experiences streams, conducting inspections and monitoring the standard of delivery.
Provide on-site client and account management during project delivery, fostering excellent relationships with clients, key stakeholders, contractors, and suppliers.
Contribute to the strategy and pitches for new projects and opportunities pursued by the Creative Production Office.
As a senior member of staff, be available for evening and weekend duty shifts when necessary.
Contribute to the research, development, and testing of new technology, production workflows, pipelines, and applications using existing and emerging technologies.
Undertake additional tasks as directed by the Technical Director.
Skills
7+ years’ experience planning/delivering major international projects and events as well as:

Extensive experience working alongside teams in planning and delivering technical aspects of large-scale Ceremonies and/or major projects
Experience leading pitches for various projects and events
Ability to manage project timelines, supplier timelines to execute projects on time
Ability to develop positive relationships among internal and external stakeholders, peers and senior management
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision to deliver the technical aspects of events across all disciplines.A strong team ethic, supportive of team members both within the technical department and the wider EVE team.
Proactive, the ability to recognise potential issues and able to communicate them and action those with the wider team
Displays the highest levels of integrity and commitment
Excellent, communication and interpersonal skills (written and verbal)
